Jamie and Alex had one of the hottest days for their GTKY session, so I am happy that their Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club wedding day was a little more temperate. They also have the most amazing black lab – such a sweet, cute dog! The weather was a little iffy on their day, so we had the umbrellas prepped. They got ready at this really beautiful bed and breakfast not far from the Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club. They had their first meet and then we went down to Spring Lake to create with them and the bridal party. Everyone was great; we had a lot of fun and as always, a ton of laughs with them.
A quick word on the venue. Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club sits right on the ocean in Spring Lake, the Monmouth County town locals have called the Irish Riviera for more than a century. The club dates back to the early 1900s, when Spring Lake was a summer escape for Philadelphia and New York families who came down for the salt air and the mile and a half of boardwalk. The oceanfront pool is the signature here, and after dark it turns into a giant mirror. That reflection is the reason I push every couple to save eight or ten minutes after dinner for a few photographs by the water.

Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club Wedding Ceremony
We continued the day by heading over to the boardwalk which was pretty demolished from a recent hurricane. Within 5 minutes we had torrential rain and winds, and had to run Jamie over to the venue in my car. She dried off for their ceremony at the Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club.
The weather kept us on our toes the whole afternoon. Spring Lake takes the full force of whatever blows in off the Atlantic, so when the sky opened up we adjusted fast and kept shooting. My second photographer stayed on Alex and the guys while I got Jamie back and dry, and we never lost the timeline. That is the part couples do not always see on a rainy day. With a team on the ground, a storm becomes a story instead of a problem. By the time Jamie started down the aisle the room was calm, the rain was just background noise, and the only thing that mattered was the two of them.

They had an amazing reception and one of my past couples, the awesome Maria & Chris were in attendance. Elite Entertainment provided the music and fun, which helped make it an awesome evening. The weather finally broke a little during the reception, so we were able to go outside and get a few photographs at night. The pool there is amazing for reflections. I always recommend to my brides taking about 8-10 minute for a night session.It is a great way to end the story of their wedding day! I wish them nothing but the best.
The reception was every bit as loud and happy as the GTKY session promised. Elite Entertainment read the room all night and kept the floor packed, and it meant a lot to Jamie and Alex that Maria and Chris, a couple I had photographed years before, were there to celebrate with them. When the weather finally broke we slipped outside for that night session by the pool. Those few frames by the water are almost always the ones couples come back to first. A full day of laughs, a little chaos from the storm, and an ending that felt earned.
