After spending a few days together with their friends and family in Jamaica Laurie & Jason were ready for their wedding day. I was honored to photograph their Jamaica destination wedding! The ceremony and reception took place at The Grand Palladium Hotel and Resort in Jamaica. Laurie prepared for the day in their villa overlooking where the ceremony took place on the beach. Once the rain let up we went out to create some images and the background of the storm clouds and reflections from the rainwater were gorgeous.
The Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort and Spa sits on a private stretch of Lucea Bay in Hanover Parish, where the Caribbean Sea meets powdery white sand and layered palm canopy. The resort has been hosting destination weddings for well over two decades, and its open-air beachfront ceremony site is one of the most striking settings in the Caribbean. Summer squalls roll through fast and leave the air cooler and the sand polished. When the rain cleared for Laurie and Jason, the reflections pooled across the wet sand gave the portraits a depth a dry beach cannot replicate. That light was a gift.
Laurie & Jason’s wedding also was published in Destination Weddings and Honeymoons magazine .

Jamaica Grand Palladium Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony was beautiful! There’s nothing like an empty beach with the ocean behind the alter for destination wedding ceremonies. I love when the father of the bride looks over at his daughter while he is walking her down the isle to give her away. They lucked out as the rain held out until the last second. It rains almost everyday in Jamaica in the summer months, so we were prepared but everyone still made a mad dash to the villa!

Jamaica destination wedding reception at The Grand Palladium
The reception was held outside on a covered deck overlooking the pool and ocean. Jamaican’s never seem to be hot because they served soup for the reception and the rehearsal dinner. When it is 80 degrees soup is not the first thing in mind. They are very close to their friends and family and had a great time together. Best wishes to Laurie and Jason! I will see them at Stephanie and Jeff’s wedding in 2012. Stephanie and Jeff were also in the bridal party.

I brought out my little Holga film camera to capture some of these unique black and white photographs that are square.
