Alicia and Lee are an extremely happy couple.  We pretty much just laughed and cracked jokes the entire time.  They both have great personalites.  Alicia & Lee spent quite a bit of time trying to find some vintage bikes for their GTKY and they found an incredible set.  Shooting with Medium format color film gave the session a beautiful vintage and textured look I was looking to capture.  We had a great session and I can’t wait to hang with them both on their wedding day this June! They will be tying the knot at the Riverton Country Club.

I wanted to share some of my favorite Getting to Know You sessions of 2011. We had an array if different locations and styles. There were two destination GTKY sessions in Jamaica and also in the Bahamas. One bride grew up riding horses, so we went to a farm in central jersey where she rides. Another bride loves the movie Casablanca. For her session we got clearance to shoot at an airport hanger, photographed in black and white high-speed film, and had Casablanca influenced vintage clothing. We even went to a scrap metal yard for one session and it was incredible. Thank you to all my couples that we did GTKY sessions for in 2011. I can not wait to push the creative limits in 2012.

Kim and Josh are a super fun outgoing couple. They both live in South Carolina so we scheduled one day when they were flying back up for the holidays.   We planned on doing there session on a local farm to bring out that southern charm.  I did a mix of color and black and white film for their session. I photographed Kim’s sister’s wedding this past summer.  We will be posting her sister’s wedding on the blog soon. Looking forward to their wedding this June!

We had a fun, action packed GTKY session with Amanda and Dave.  Amanda’s folks have a house down in Wildwood NJ , so we made that our home base for their sessionIt rained the entire morning and afternoon right up until we were set to start. . The sun came while we were driving down to Wildwood.  They had borrowed a new silver Corvette from a family member to use for the shoot and it was fun hanging off the back of it while shooting!  The beach was gorgeous and Dave also brought his guitar because he plays really damn good! The shoot ended with a nighttime stroll on the boardwalk and some Mack and Manco’s pizza.  I am looking forward to seeing Amanda and Dave at their wedding in March of 2012 at The Ballroom at the Ben in Philadelphia, PA.

Jennifer and Neil decided to meet me after hearing from a former couple of mine Melanie & Rich.  Neil is a firefighter and Jennifer is a 1st grade teacher.  She’s super fun crazy and cool.   We did their session down in Atlantic City right by Caesars and the One Atlantic venue on the boardwarlk.  It was a cloudy windy day, but that didn’t’s stop us from having an awesome session.  Jen and Neil are down to earth and really fun to be around.  She brought a hat with her and I had to put it on Neil.  He looked like the Stetson cologne ad man with it.  I am looking forward to hanging with them again next July at their wedding in Philadelphia at The Cescaphe.   

I met Laurie a few years back at Jackie & Johnny’s wedding at Forsgate Country Club.  She was super cool and we even did a GTKY session with Jason her in the States last year.  Laurie & Jason decided to have their wedding in Jamaica this past summer.  I was pretty excited that they asked me to be there photographer as I have never been to Jamaica.  Jamaica is absolutely beautiful!  We had an amazing week together! It was summer there and it rained everyday making it tough to plan additional shoots. We did their GTKY session at Sunset Cove.  They were not lying about the name of the cove as you will see in the photographs.  I will be posting their full wedding next week. 

When I first met Christina and Jeff we pretty much knew we were going to have to do a Casablanca style GTKY session.  If you have not seen Casablanca go buy that or Netflix it ASAP.  It is a pure classic! She loved the idea and it is one of her favorite movies. I had found a local aiport hangar for the session and had to get security clearance to shoot there. They did an amazing job with clothing.  It was perfect!  The session was shot on mostly B/W highspeed film using hotlights to give it the classical timeless look.  I am really looking forward to their wedding in March of 2012 at The Collingswood Ballroom.  “Play it, Sam!”

I love being around Gina and Steve.  They are always in great spirits and super fun.  We had to reschedule her GTKY session half a dozen times due to weather and location availability.  I had planned a special shoot for them in a private airport hanger in South Jersey. This session was captured almost entirely with film except for my infrared image. I had even rented a special tilt/shift lens from Canon for a few images. The day we created their session there were quite a few vintage prop planes in the area getting ready for a local airshow.  I can’t wait to see them on their wedding day this September at Windows on the Water at Frogsbridge. 

A few months back I was viewing black and white images of women in the 60’s with  large brimmed hats and 60s-era clothing.  This inspired the idea for Veronica & Matt’s session.  She loved the idea as well and we went crazy!  The session was captured in digital as well as black and white film. We did bring our Holga camera which creates really cool square images with amazing light leaks on the film.  All developing and scanning was done by Richard Photo Lab, which does all our fine art film work.  Veronica & Matt will be getting married this July at The Merion. 

I am posting Katie and Luke’s photographs backwards, as I already posted their wedding.  We had a wonderfull week together.  The day of their GTKY session rained all day until about 35 minutes prior to dusk.   We ran out to the boat dock on the other side of the island with my remote gear wrapped in zip lock bags  because of the drizzle.  The sunset was amazing and we finished up their session in the pool at their house.  Special thanks to Tim (aka DJ Naptime) for helping assist the shoot.  I will be posting some of their reception at Trust next week and we have so many weddings and GTKY sessions to share from the past few weeks!
